Cineplex Entertainment Limited Partnership Privacy Policy (the "Privacy Policy")
Effective Date: June 1, 2026
Our Privacy Commitment
At Cineplex, we value the trust you place in us when you visit our theatres and entertainment venues, or use our websites, mobile applications, and digital services. Respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information are central to earning and keeping that trust.
As one of Canada’s leading entertainment companies, we interact with millions of individuals each year, and may collect personal information to deliver great experiences, operate our business, and communicate with you in meaningful ways. We take our responsibility to safeguard this information seriously.
Our approach to privacy is guided by these principles:
- Transparency: We are clear about how we collect, use, and share personal information.
- Purposeful use: We use personal information to provide our services and enhance your experience.
- Responsible protection: We safeguard personal information with appropriate security measures and handle it with care. When third parties handle personal information on our behalf, we require contractual safeguards and security that limit how personal information may be used, and require appropriate security protections.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and the choices available to you, so you can make informed decisions about your privacy when engaging with Cineplex.
Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to Cineplex Entertainment Limited Partnership and its parent, wholly owned subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “Cineplex”, “we”, “us”, “our”), and explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
This Privacy Policy applies when visitors, guests, job applicants, customers and others interact with us (“you” or “your”), including our brands, business units and venues (including theatres and entertainment venues (i.e. The Rec Room and Playdium), and where we work with third parties or service providers acting on our behalf, such as through our websites, mobile apps, automated kiosks, Wi‑Fi networks, products and services, physical locations, guest services, and employment applications.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to the handling of personal information by the Scene+ loyalty programme (“Scene+”) and Scene Limited Partnership (“Scene LP”), which is governed by their own privacy policy. However, this Privacy Policy does apply to Cineplex’s use and protection of personal information that Cineplex receives from Scene+.
Your use of Cineplex websites and mobile applications is also subject to applicable Terms of Use.

- Payment information, such as credit or debit card details, when you purchase tickets, products, or services. Payment information is processed securely and, where applicable, by authorised payment service providers. Cineplex does not receive or store full payment card details and receives only limited transaction information, such as masked card numbers or reference, for administrative and support purposes;
- Information needed to provide goods/services you request, for example, information about a child or other participants when you book a birthday party or similar experience;
- Survey, contest, or research information,including responses you provide;
- Preferences and profile information, such as language preferences, date of birth, favourite theatres, movie preferences, comments, or other information you choose to share through our websites or apps; or
- Employment‑related information, such as resumes, application forms, and other information you provide when applying for a job or engaging with us about employment opportunities.
You may choose not to provide certain personal information; however, this may limit your ability to access some of our products, services, or features.
3. Personal Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit our locations, acquire our goods or services, or use our websites, apps, or services, Cineplex may automatically collect certain information through technology. Some of this information may be personal information, while other information may not identify you on its own.
- Video Surveillance. We use video surveillance at many physical locations (including fixed cameras and, where applicable, body-worn cameras used by security personnel) for safety, security, and loss prevention. Access is restricted and recordings are used or disclosed only in limited circumstances, including where required by law or as described in the sharing section of this Privacy Policy.
- On Premises Devices and Imaging Technology. At some locations, we may use on-premises cameras, sensors, or similar tools on a limited or occasional basis to measure engagement with signage or advertising, estimate attendance and general audience characteristics, such as approximate age range or other non-identifying attributes, manage or evaluate content, analyse traffic patterns, and support health, safety, and security. We may also conduct research or testing activities, such as focus groups, where images or videos of participants are collected and analyzed for research purposes, with notice and consent at the time of collection. In these situations, personal information may be retained and used for research, analysis, or evaluation purposes, and is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws
- Technical information: When you visit our websites, use our apps, or connect to our networks, we may collect technical information such as your IP address, device or browser type, operating system, pages or features used, and the date, time, and duration of your visit. Where feasible, this information is used in aggregated or de-identified form.

If you choose to disable certain cookies, you may still see offers, promotions, or advertising when using our websites or apps; however, these will not be tailored or personalised based on information collected through those cookies. Disabling some cookies may also affect the availability or functionality of certain features of our websites or apps. - Location information: Our apps may allow you to choose whether to enable location‑based features through your device. If you do, Cineplex may collect information about your approximate or precise location, such as GPS data, depending on your device settings. Enabling location services is optional and is controlled through your device. Location services are not required to use our websites or apps, although some features may be limited if they are disabled.

- Social media platforms and other third parties: Where available, you may be able to sign-up or sign in using a third-party account, such as a social media, Google, Microsoft or Apple account. If you do, we may receive limited information from that third party to help validate your details and support authentication, subject to the platform’s privacy policy and your settings.
3. How We Use Your Personal Information
Cineplex collects and uses personal information with your consent, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. We do not sell personal information. We use it for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, including to operate our business, provide and improve our products and services, communicate with you, and maintain the security and integrity of our systems and operations.
-
- To process your purchases and reservations: We use personal information to process and manage purchases, reservations, and bookings made through our websites, apps, physical locations, special event bookings, or third party service providers. This may include using contact and payment‑related information to complete transactions, provide confirmations or receipts, and respond to related enquiries.
- In some cases, purchases or reservations are processed by third‑party platforms or service providers that operate independently from Cineplex, even when branded as Cineplex offerings. For example, the Cineplex Shop, is operated entirely by a third‑party provider. When you purchase through these platforms, your personal information is handled in accordance with their privacy policy and practices, and contractual arrangements with Cineplex. However, we may receive information from these providers (such as contact information, order, booking, or attendee details) for purposes that may include administering services, fulfilling customer support requests, maintaining records, marketing, or communicating with you in connection with the transaction.
- Payment information is used by Cineplex only where we process the transaction directly and is retained only as required for administrative, audit, or legal purposes. For certain experiences (such as birthday parties), limited personal information may also be used to organize and deliver the service.
- For Theatre and Location-Based Entertainment Centre Administration: We may collect and use limited personal information to support the day‑to‑day operation of our theatres and entertainment venues. This includes using contact information for services such as lost‑and‑found or coat check, and transaction details to process refunds or support audit and fraud‑prevention activities. In some situations, we may verify age or eligibility (for example, for age‑restricted films, activities, VIP cinemas, alcohol purchases, or Scene+ verification). Information collected for these purposes is used only as necessary and retained only as long as required by law.
- Scene+ programme: Cineplex is one of the owners of the Scene+ loyalty programme. Scene+ is operated by Scene LP and is governed by the Scene+ privacy policy, available at https://www.sceneplus.ca/privacy. Cineplex may receive personal information about members who choose to use their Scene+ membership in connection with Cineplex (for example, to earn or redeem rewards, participate in contests, or receive Cineplex offers). Once received, this information is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Cineplex may also receive information from Scene LP that does not identify an individual on its own. We may combine this information with your Cineplex account information or your interactions with us to better understand our customers, improve our services, and provide offers, advertising, content, or experiences that may be more relevant to you.
We do not use this information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals. Where combined information can reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual, it is treated as personal information and handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws. - Targeted Advertising and Personalization: We may use personal information to support targeted or interest‑based advertising or offers that are more likely to be relevant to you, and personalization on our websites and apps and on third‑party platforms. This may include creating custom audiences or audience segments to help display advertising, offers, or promotional content that may be more relevant to you. Some targeted advertising uses cookies, when you allow them, to help show ads or offers based on your activity across our websites and apps. Targeted advertising can also occur without cookies, using contextual or account based information, for example, showing offers at checkout based on the details of your purchase, or displaying ads based on your Cineplex account, past purchases or visits, or how you interact with our services. Advertising may be delivered on Cineplex’s behalf or on behalf of our advertising clients, using carefully vetted partners that are subject to contractual requirements governing how personal information may be used and protected.
Advertising may also be shown within third‑party platforms (such as social media or other websites), using tools provided by those platforms. In these situations, information is used to help make ads more relevant and to understand how advertising performs, rather than showing the same ads to everyone. This advertising may be delivered on Cineplex platforms or on third‑party platforms on Cineplex’s behalf or on behalf of advertising clients, using partners acting under our direction. Where required by law, we obtain consent and provide choices to manage or limit targeted advertising, including through cookie preference tools or platform‑specific controls - To ensure the safety and security of our properties: To help protect our guests, employees, and property, Cineplex uses security measures at our physical locations, including video surveillance and other safety‑related tools, for purposes such as crime deterrence, detection, and incident investigation. In the event of an accident, theft, violence, vandalism, or other security‑related incident, Cineplex may collect, use, and share relevant personal information as necessary for operational, safety, insurance, legal, or regulatory purposes, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. At certain locations, and where permitted by law, we may also use third‑party identity‑verification or venue‑safety systems to support age verification, access control, or security screening. Where a safety concern is identified, limited information may be retained and, where appropriate, shared with other participating venues for safety purposes. Access to security‑related information is restricted and it is retained only as long as necessary.
- To administer contests, promotions, and research activities: From time to time, Cineplex may run contests, promotions, sampling activities, research initiatives at our physical locations or online, including activities offered in partnership with third‑party business partners or advertisers.
When you participate in a contest, promotion, or research activity administered by Cineplex, we may collect personal information such as your name and contact information, and, where required, proof of age, in order to determine eligibility, administer the activity, communicate with participants, notify winners, fulfil prizes or promotional offers, or administer incentives or benefits.
Participation in surveys or research is voluntary and may be anonymous. Unless otherwise disclosed, results are generally used in aggregated or de‑identified form.
In some cases, promotional activities, product demonstrations, sampling campaigns or research activities offered at Cineplex locations may be operated by independent third‑party advertising partners who collect personal information directly from participants for their own purposes. Their collection is governed by the third party’s privacy practices, not this Privacy Policy. Cineplex is not responsible for how those parties handle personal information, and we encourage you to review any privacy notices provided prior to providing your personal information. - To communicate with you: Subject to your consent choices and applicable law, we may use personal information to send transactional and service‑related communications (such as confirmations or updates) and, where you have consented, marketing or promotional messages. Communications may be sent by email, SMS, telephone, social media platforms, or other digital channels. You may withdraw your consent or unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time. Cineplex may also communicate with you on its own behalf using platforms operated by third parties.
- To operate, improve, and personalise our services: We use personal information collected through our websites, apps, and other services to operate and improve our digital and in‑person experiences, and make them more relevant and efficient. This includes using information you provide to:
- register and manage your Cineplex account;
- process transactions and bookings;
- understand how our websites and apps are used;
- improve content, functionality, and performance;
- personalize content, features, or offers based on your preferences and interactions;
- send newsletters or marketing communications where you have requested or consented to receive them; and

- information you provide to us;
- information collected through your use of our websites or apps;
- transaction history;
- technical or device-related information; and
- information we receive from business partners or other third parties.
Where feasible, we use aggregated or de‑identified insights to understand trends, preferences, and behaviours across our guest base, and to support analytics, reporting, and performance measurement. Where information is used or combined in a way that can reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual, it is treated as personal information and handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws. - To create and access your Cineplex account: We use personal information to set up and manage Cineplex accounts, support secure sign‑in, remember preferences (including login details), and manage interactions such as purchases, bookings, contests, or surveys. You are able to manage certain account preferences or close your account through our websites or apps, including options related to saved information. To help protect your account, we may use your telephone number, email address, or other contact information to send one‑time security codes or similar authentication messages when you sign in or take certain actions. We may also use other authentication methods, where available, to help verify your identity and secure your account.
Some devices offer biometric sign‑in features controlled by the device or operating system. Cineplex does not collect or store biometric information used for device‑based sign‑in. - Job applicants: If you apply for a job with Cineplex, we collect and use personal information to assess your application, make hiring decisions, and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Where appropriate and permitted by law, we may verify information you provide as part of the recruitment process, including by contacting employers, educational institutions, professional associations, or references that you have identified, and for certain roles, we may also conduct background checks or request additional information to assess suitability for employment. Any such checks are carried out in accordance with applicable laws and with appropriate notice or consent, as required.
Cineplex may use automated tools or technologies, including artificial intelligence‑based tools, to support certain aspects of the recruitment process, such as reviewing applications, identifying candidates who meet role requirements, or supporting screening and assessment activities. These tools are used to assist our recruitment processes and are not intended to make final hiring decisions on their own without human review. Personal information used in this way is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws. - Other ways we may use personal information: Where permitted by law, we may also use personal information for the following purposes:
- Business and partner relationships: to manage relationships with partners, service providers, advertisers, and business customers;
